OUR HISTORY

For the past 41 years, our passion at Old World Jewelers has been acquiring exceptional antique and estate jewelry and fine quality pre-owned Swiss wristwatches.

Old World Jewelers is a family owned business established in 1979. The original location was a gold and jewelry buying shop in Elmwood Park, Illinois. After several years, the shop doubled in size and expanded to a retail store featuring estate jewelry and pre-owned watches.

Our fascination with vintage and pre-owned watches grew to the point that in 1987 we opened a buying shop in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Along with our interest in vintage watches, there were many watch collectors entering the market as well. Then as today, we were known in the Chicago land area, to have an amazing selection of fine quality timepieces.

We have traveled to watch shows throughout the United States and Europe buying and selling watches. Our reputation as a trusted watch source grew to include collectors from Asia, Japan, Italy and Germany. In 1996 our website was launched to reach out to our clients.

Eventually, the store in Elmwood Park closed and we moved to an office space in Oak Brook, Illinois to develop an internet business. Now you can find us on Ebay, Chrono 24 and various web portals.

Today we have a permanent located in downtown Wheaton, Illinois in a vintage building built in 1921. You can visit us by appointment Monday through Friday 9:30 to 4:30. You can find a beautiful selection of estate and antique jewelry along with the timepieces.

After all these years, it is still exciting to hold a rare timepiece in your hands, loving the history and beauty of a mechanical masterpiece. The fascination hasn’t stopped. Many of the rare timepieces we have sold are in the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva, Switzerland and the finest timepiece collections in the world.

Old World Jewelers has remained a small business but are known worldwide for offering the finest in vintage and pre-owned top quality watches in pristine condition.
